MANILA – Boxing legend and former senator Manny Pacquiao is currently juggling his time between boxing, basketball, and public service. Despite his numerous commitments, Pacquiao remains silent about his political plans as the midterm elections approach.
The People’s Champ, as he is fondly called, has been dividing his time between different responsibilities. Recently, Pacquiao launched the Junior MPBL, a league aimed at developing young basketball talent. During the inaugural dinner for the launch of the Junior MPBL, Pacquiao was asked about his plans for the upcoming midterm elections. This translates to him asking the public to wait for his announcement since the filing of candidacy is still several months away, and his current focus is on helping the community through the MPBL and Junior MPBL.
Despite previously expressing his desire to return to the Senate last May, Pacquiao’s immediate focus is his upcoming fight against Japanese kickboxing and MMA champion Chihiro Suzuki. The match is scheduled for July 28 in the Super Rizin 3 fight card. “Mas mahirap ang boxing kasi lahat. Nakaka-pagod ang boxing kasi 12 rounds. Wala pang boxing experience kalaban ko that’s why I want to teach him,” Pacquiao remarked humorously, emphasizing the challenges of boxing compared to MMA.
In addition to his boxing endeavors, the second season of the Junior MPBL will begin next month, featuring 18 teams. Pacquiao’s dedication to sports development is evident as he continues to strengthen and enhance the league for young athletes.
Pacquiao’s multifaceted career showcases his dedication to both sports and public service. While his future political moves remain uncertain, his commitment to his current roles highlights his ongoing efforts to make a positive impact on his community.
