MANILA — Filipina drag queen Eva Le Queen is set to represent the Philippines in the inaugural season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Global All Stars,” as revealed by World of Wonder early Tuesday.
Eva Le Queen will be competing against 11 other queens from various international franchises, each representing their own countries. Notably, Eva Le Queen was among the Top 4 finalists in the first season of “Drag Race Philippines,” which aired in 2022.
In her Meet The Queens clip, Eva highlighted her mission to showcase Asian culture on a global platform. “In ‘Drag Race Philippines,’ I did pretty well, finishing in the Final 4. I always aim for breathtaking looks, using my body, my artwork, my wigs, and my face to tell a story and start conversations,” she said.
“I’ve always been inspired by Eastern sisters who came before me, like Pangina. They really broke the glass ceilings in the Philippines. I came here because I wanted to show that there is excellence from this side of the world,” Eva added.
Eva Le Queen believes it is high time for an Asian queen to win All Stars. “It’s high time for Asian drag excellence to be in the Hall of Fame. I’m representing the Philippines but also Asia in general because I started my drag in Singapore, influenced by my sisters from Thailand, Indonesia, and Hong Kong,” she noted.
“And I know that what I am going to show is a culmination of the beauty, artistry, and culture that we all have from this side of the world, and now we’re bringing it to the global stage,” she continued.
“RuPaul’s Drag Race: Global All Stars” will premiere new episodes on August 16.
Meanwhile, “Drag Race Philippines” is preparing for its third season, which will premiere on August 7 with 11 contestants. Previous titleholders of “Drag Race Philippines” include Precious Paula Nicole and Captivating Katkat, who won in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The Emmy Award-winning original series has consistently highlighted the talents of Filipino drag queens both in the US and internationally. Eva Le Queen’s participation in “Global All Stars” marks another significant milestone for Filipino and Asian drag excellence on the world stage.
